Employee-Owned

Systems Engineering is proud to be 100% Employee-Owned!

After operating as a privately held business for 20 years, we decided to embark on a remarkably different path from most New England companies and made a decision that would have a profound impact on our employees.  We established ourselves as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company, giving our employees an ownership interest in the company by allowing staff to earn stock.

This decision positively reinforced the existing culture at Systems Engineering, creating an environment where everyone is engaged and committed to the mission and growth of the company. This, coupled with our prevailing attitude of “do what’s best for each other and our clients,” has created a more empowered, productive, and happy workforce that is committed to delivering successful outcomes.

We get a lot of questions about our ESOP.  Below are some of the more frequently asked questions along with our answers. If you have a question unanswered below, fill out the form on this page or send us an email.  We are always happy to discuss our ESOP.

What is an ESOP?

Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) are companies where some or all ownership was transferred to the employees, primarily in the form of non-voting company stock. In 2007, Systems Engineering was sold to the employees and converted from a privately-owned business into an ESOP. This change empowered our employees by making each of us an owner, giving us a financial stake of the company. At Systems Engineering, we are proud to be 100% employee-owned…not just 10%, 50%, or 75% but 100% employee-owned.

How long has Systems Engineering been an ESOP?

We established our ESOP in 2007.

How does employee ownership differentiate us from other companies like us?

For us, the ESOP furthers and continues to foster the ownership culture, creating many benefits for employees that in turn benefit our clients. Nothing is more important to the success of Systems Engineering’s ESOP than building strong relationships amongst our employees and with those around us who value their Information Technology as a key tool for business productivity and growth.

Why is employee ownership important to our culture?

Before we became an ESOP, our approach was to always do right by the client which translated into doing right by the employee. Converting to an ESOP was the best way to further this ideal.

What does the ESOP mean for our clients?

As owners of our company, we are all driven to find better ways to support our clients. The last thing we want to do is to give you an IT solution that we, ourselves, would not want to utilize. Being innovative with the technologies we recommend and implement, without being reckless with your business, is a key focus of ours. It is important to us that our clients view us as an indispensable, trusted part of their team. Learn more about how our clients benefit.

What does it mean to our owners (aka employees)?

When you do business with Systems Engineering, every representative you talk to is either an owner or on the path to becoming an owner. As owners, we have deep, personal, and professional interest in the success of our company and our clients. “Treat it like it’s your own,” is something we all take quite literally.
